Hey everybody, I just finished typing the first chapter of Allure and it might not be perfect-I might change it up a bit- but this is what i have so far. Read the summary before you read this. It will make it more exiting. Please comment of what you think. Thank you for reading.
Allure
Chapter 1
“Mmm…” the moan had just escaped my lips when her mother whispered “Adrian, honey, it’s time to wake up.”
I pulled off her sleeping mask to see that it was 6:00am as my mom still sat on the soft duvet covering my bed and stroked my hair. The delicious smell of French toast with vanilla wafted through the open crack of her door and into the bedroom.
Ever since I was a little kid I had always hated the blaring noise of alarm clocks, so from an early age, my mother took the job. She is an early riser she wakes up at 5:00am every day and prepares for a long day work. I, myself, always sleep like the dead and am bleary- eyed when I wake up for another day of school. I can’t comprehend how my mother does it; she always seems fully charged and awake.
“Aww c’mon just a little longer… please…” I whined, practically falling back asleep. The rhythm of my mothers’ breath lulling me farther into unconsciousness-
“Oh, I see, it’s going to be like that!” And before I could return into a state of awareness and ask what ‘that’ is my mother started to jab and tickle me in the ribs!-Not the most pleasant way to wake up-. I let out a yelp like a six year old even though I just turned eighteen a couple of days ago.
“Ok, Ok, I’m up!” She didn’t stop. I tried to squirm out of her iron grip. “Mom! Joyce!” The sound of her name broke her out of her state. Pulling her hands away, she half smiled, cocked and eyebrow and said “You’d better be.” She got up and turned to leave the room, I called after her.
“I’ll be down in five.” My voice was groggy but my mind was lucid. I pushed myself into a sitting position against the headboard of my bed, casting away a random array of pillows.
“Well, I’m making your favorite. You only have two more weeks of school left until graduation!!!” It was actually two weeks and one day before school is out. My school system is awkward. Before grad, my entire school and one week to prepare for finals, the week to take them and after one weekend, the following Monday is when –if-we graduate. She tried to sound excited but she knew perfectly well the hectic two weeks that waited for me. Lovely.
She left quickly after a final glance that confirmed I was still awake. I pushed the mask that was sitting on top of my head to my nightstand and swayed out of bed. I had to catch up on some homework so I was extra tired this morning. The moment both of my feet hit the ground I got the worst head rush. I closed my eyes hard and rubbed my temples then reached out to the pillar that stuck out of my bed to steady myself. I let out a grunt and stood up strait with my rush passing quickly.
Blinking away the remnants of the head rush the reflection in the mirror to the left of me caught my eye. I turned to face it squarely and examined myself, when I did the curls of my dark, auburn, coppery hair brushed my elbows and I could see it stood slightly tasseled atop my head. It never ceased to amaze me that I could see my deep olive coloured tan in this light, it was almost pitch black in here. My heavy curtains were drawn tightly together and the only bit of light illuminating my room was coming from where my door laid only a crack open.
I only went to these lengths to keep it this dark because I cannot sleep with any light surrounding me. That is where my mask comes in. Wearing it is a childhood habit when I didn’t have the velvet curtains I do now, and I needed something to block out the light.
No one was here to criticize or comment about this because ‘Daddy’ split right after I was born and Joyce was to heartbroken to ever love again, hence no brothers or sisters. My father and I shared the same hair but while my father had eyes bluer then the sky I have Joyce’s green eyes that shone like emeralds. So, for eighteen years it has just been my mom and I. I was too young to ever know my father and Joyce won’t even speak his name. She doesn’t want me to have anything to do with “that wretched man”. She loved him. He left her. End of story. I suppose it causes her to much pain to talk about him because the rare moments she refers something to him or his name is mentioned, any reminder of him, her eyes fill with pent up tears and her back becomes hunched- so I don’t push it on her. You can tell he was the one and only love of her life.
The school I attend starts at 7:30am so it’s no wonder that I am supposed to get up at 6:00am. We don’t have uniforms-thank the lord- so I pulled on my favorite purple shorts and a tasteful navy tank with a silver inlay in the pattern of a blooming flower on the right side of it. I have a simple style, some inlayed silver there, a splash of fuchsia here and I don’t where much makeup. Just a little eyeliner-I am serious, I don’t heavily line my eyes like raccoon-girls do- and eye shadow and the occasional dash of lip gloss. My lashes are thick and dark, like my hair-so it already looks like I am wearing mascara.
“Adrian! I am now eating your toast!” My mom bellowed from the kitchen downstairs, snapping me out of my reverie. I sucked in an annoyed breath and then lazily walked out of my room and ambled down the hall, making sure she heard my footsteps and when I reached the top of the staircase, Joyce was nowhere in sight and so there for, was not eating my French toast. I smiled a mischievous smile and hurried my pace to select a seat.
The second I entered into the vicinity of the kitchen the smell intoxicated me. Joyce was a fabulous chef, despite her having a full time job as a lawyer. She is forty years old but is still unusually beautiful with her porcelain smooth skin, her dirty blond hair and eyes like mine that shone brighter than green fire.
Joyce’s’ working hours are long-as I mentioned, full time- she has to leave the house at 6:30am every morning and then comes back home at 6:00pm every day except for the weekends. Her boss said she could have Saturday as well as Sunday off if she put in the extra hours in the week time. She says I am the only light in her world and wants to spend as much time with me as possible. An actual quote. She is paid extremely well-a product of her boss having a crush on her. Our house is a large bungalow. It has two floors but no basement. It is pretty big.
I don’t use my freedom badly, I don’t smoke and I don’t drink. I also haven’t tried either; I knew if I did, my mother would literally kill me. I do have a boyfriend though. From my point of view he is perfect. He calls me beautiful instead of hot and likes me for who I am, his parents did raise him right, after all. His name is Sean. Sean transferred three years ago, at the begging of the ninth grade. When he transferred everybody thought he was a heaven sent gorgeous angel and flocked toward him like bugs to a light-except me. He has messily styled jet black hair and eyes like the sea. When the girls were all over him, I stayed away. I loathe people who get attention because of how attractive they are. People should get attention for their achievements. Things everybody has an equal chance at doing. Sean picked up on what I was doing and came to me. He wanted someone who liked him for him. It isn’t hard to be around him, I learned this after a couple months of avoiding him, I was then still under the impression he was thoughtless and shallow. When I learned who he really is I learned to love him, and the cute, cocky smile he flaunts always gives me a reason to go to school.
I sat down at the dining room table on the closest seat to the kitchen so I could inhale the noxiously good smell for as long as possible. That particular chair has a loose leg and so when I sat on it, it wobbled and I sucked in a breath and made a sound I did not know I could make. At that moment, Joyce bursted out of the kitchen with two steaming plates of French toast, suppressing a smile I narrowed my eyes but she could not see. She could afford help but she likes the independence and really hasn’t trusted anyone since dad left. Dancing over to the table she did a spin, put one plate in front of me and plunked herself into a chair adjacent to me while humming “Pocketful of Sunshine” by Natasha Bedingfield.
“Why are you in such a good mood?” I asked, stuffing half a piece of toast onto my mouth.
She let out a breath she had been holding, as to say finally, she asked! “This guy got busted for kidnapping and I am going to crush him like a bug in court today!” She gets a lot of satisfaction from her job. She clapped her hands together and her fork clattered to the floor. I giggled and she half heartedly glared at me before retrieving her fork.
I finished my two pieces of toast when she was still on her first. It’s not that I was in a rush, I just eat quickly. Joyce says my stomach is like a black hole, I can eat as much as I want but I never get the least bit pudgy. My metabolism is very fast so it gives me nice curves. My mother has always envied me because she gains weight easily and works hard to keep it off. I say thanks for breakfast as I saunter into the kitchen to wash my plate. There is already a frying pan in the sink and a glass, square bowl. Balancing my plate precariously upon the pan, I reached over to the stove rack to retrieve the rubber gloves. Pulling them on, I looked up at the clock. 6:20. Mom should be leaving in ten minutes. She always aims to be out of the house by 6:30am. The bus I take comes at 6:45am. The bus is supposed to be here at 6:30 but for the amount of comatose teenagers it picks up, I am surprised it is only fifteen minutes late.
Just as I place the last of the dishes on the rack Joyce materializes through the door and hands me her plate. I raise my eyebrow but take the plate. She gives me an apologetic smile and says”I gotta run, its 6:30, I’ll see you after work!” She flashes one last smile and bustles out of the kitchen and to the front door. Finishing her plate, I remembered I left my catch up home work upstairs. I made a sound that vaguely resembled ‘Humph’. Up the stairs, I open my door and it is still pitch black, just the way I like it. It only takes a minute for my fully dilated pupils to adjust to the poor lighting. Picking up the homework that sat in my desk, I saw my book; “Fire” by Kristin Cashore is, on the nightstand. I don’t normally have time to read at school but since this week is only studying I might get some time. Making my way towards the nightstand, I smashed my pinkie toe on the brass foot of my bed. “Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, owwwwwwwwwwww!” I what I mumble to myself as I limp back to the bedroom door, book in hand.
As soon as I reach the bottom of the stairs, probably swallowing up my reading minutes trying to inflict the least amount of pain on my toe, I head toward the down filled couch, anticipating the luxurious feeling of sitting on a cloud. Just as I cross the hardwood floor of the dining room, heading toward the family room, just outside I hear the booming horn of the bus, honking twice to signal he is here. The scowl that has been set on my face since I hit my toe hovers strong as I reach to pull my classy black ballet flats on. The worst of the pain from the hit has subsided. I pull on my Caribbean Joe sunglasses and brace myself for leaving the shadows of my house.
The moment the beams wash over me, the light seizes my attention and energy. I squint, hardly able to see, through the dark complexion of the glasses. I absolutely despise what the sun does to me. I don’t know what’s happened to me or what is wrong with me. When I was little, I basked in the sunlight with my mother, but as I grew older, so did pain light brings me.

Finals SUCK!
Greetings to all Earthlings...
We are nearing the end of the semester and guess what, FINALS! Ugg, all we are doing is studying. Trying - without succeding - to memorize 10 different subjects. Some of them in Spanish. I am dying! Evil math teachers don't help. I hate him! He is nothing but a stupid butt who wears mickcy mouse glasses and tight pants. He insults everybody and doesn't help us. He is just like "THE DIRECTIONS ARE THERE, IF I DID ANYTHING ELSE, I WOULD BE DOING THIS FOR YOU!!!" Totally not even bothering to explain what we do not understand. He is a pooper scooper. Oh, well. Finals, here we come. ALong with a whole poop load of homework. Is there really anybidy in the whole world who likes tests? If so raise your hand so you can be smacked. Hehe. If you don't believe me then come down here. I'll give ya the old 1,2! I am a little hyper right now. Toblerone...begining...to...set...in...! Ok, got totally off track there. I have ten different finals. 10! So one can imagine why I am so utterly swamped. And... I have soooooo much homework from my evil math teacher. I can't even begin to think right now. One thing the whole human race can agree upon is that finals suck and weekends rock!
I'm gonna be a total Brit and say CHEERS!,

'Allure' and a whole big whopping list of books to read!
Hola to all!
Ok, I will be the first to admit I am a book junkie. All I do in my soare time is read and do home work. I abosolutly LUV books. I have read more then I can count. However, 'Allure' is the first novel I am writing - and hopefully not the last! We will start there:
Allure is a story about Elementals. There are three kinds of Elementals, Earth(controls anythiing to do with Earth), Soul(controls mind and body) and Fabricated(Controls anything man made). There is another group called the Tainted, they hunt and kill Elementals. They don't believe one person sould have that much control or power. The only year it is easy to kill an Elemental is the when they are 18. Before, they are to premature and after they become immortal and are very hard to kill - not impossible - just extremely difficult. When Elementals become immortal they keep their 18 year old body. The Tainted kill Elementals in their 18th year by piecing the heart with a black rose thorn - the meaning of death and after the 18th year they have to decapitate the Elemental - That porves almost impossible when Elementals have the powers they do. Guardian Angles are sworn to protect Elementals for as long as they live. The Guardian Angel can live to be 1000 or they can live too be 19, if their Elemental dies, then they die but if the Guaridian Angel dies the Elemental does not. But teh Elemental feels the pain the Guardian Angel goes through. The Tainted can kill a Guardian Angel any way they could kill a normail human. Both the Tainted and Guaridan Angels can read minds, so that is why an Elemental is not told about what they are untill they turn "19". The Guardian Angels mind is blocked to the Tainted and vice versa. This is how usually how The Tainted find Elementals, through their Guardian Angles or the second way they can find Elementals is because the Elemental will have had at leat a few encounters usine their powers but they will think it is odd and strange and nothing more. This is still enough for The Tained though. The protagonist, Adrian has just turned 18 and she is an Earth Elemental. Her best firend, Aliyah, is her Guardian Angel and her boyfriend, Shawn, is Tainted. The head of the Guardian Angels, Avalon, has noticed her as something special about her. She still has no clue what is going on. DUN, DUN, DUHHHHHHHHHHH! ^_^
P.S. When the Elemental turn "19", and is informed aobout everything, the Guardian Angel gives her a pendent of eucalyptus, it means protection.
The whole big whopping list of books I promised are:
Graceling/Fire By Kristin Cashore
Wonderous Strange By Lesly Livingston
The Vampire Academy Series By Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy, Frosbite, Shadow Kiss and Blood Promise) - Spirit Bound has yet to be released.
The Hunger Games Series By Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games and Catching Fire)
The Evermore Seires By Alyson Noel (Evermore and Blue Moon)
The Uglies Series By Scot Westerfield (Uglies, Preties, Specials, Extras)
The Gallagher Academy Series By Ally Carter (I'd tell you I love you but then i'd have to kill you, Cross my heart and hope to spy and Don't judge a girl by her cover)
The Dreamquake Series By Elizabeth Knox (Dreamquake and Dreamhunter)
The Mortal Insturments Series By Cassandra Clare (City of Bones,City of Ashes and City of Glass)
Skinned/Crashed By Robin Wasserman
Evernight/Stargazer By Claudia Gray
The Luxe Series By Anna Godberson (The Luxe, Rumors, Splendor and Envy)
Lock and Key/Someone Like you By Sarah Dessen
Liar By Justine Something-Or-Other (Too lazy to find out last name)
Yours Truely,
Abby!

Crazyness of my week off school!
For American Thanksgiving our school - In Costa Rica - had one week off. Don't ask me why becasue I do NOT know. Anyways, my mom had been planing this trip for some time and it worked out great.
We left on Sunday on took a day trip to a place in "Alajuela" called Pura Vida inn. (My familly had some... dificulty pronouncing "Alajeula", it was pretty funny yet at the same time misrible! ^_^) When we got there, we were all exhausted from the trip, it took a LONG time to get there. It was a beatiful place with gardins and very cute little houses that we slept in. For dinner we went to this adorible little restraunt called... ok I am a devil for not remembering but the title had something to do with a 'princess' and a 'marina'. Places in Costa Rica are very strange. The food was remarkable and I would recommend the place for anyone. We would have eaten at Pura Vida but you had to let them know you would be there 24 hours prier, we only gave them 12. They said TOUGH BEANS! Or something with that gist. Hehe. The first day there we went to this Zoo. The Zoo was very interesting but it was nit a normal zoo. We got to feed Toucans and we saw the most amazing birds. It was a magical indoor tropical rainforest. That was only one part. There were monkeys - one kissed my mom - and wild cats and a waterfall. Everything there was absolutly beautiful. If people come to visit, that is were we will take them. This was late afternoon. In the morning we went to a volcano called 'Poaz'. The volcano would have been cool but we could not see a thing. It was far to clouded over. It was a drag and it would have been a total waste of time if we did not hike. There was a trail that led through some rainforest. It was a very cool hike. The trail was paved - surprisingly - and the scenery was beautiful. It was were you would shoot a movie or something.
After the long day we were happy to retire to our little cabin/room. The dinner was amazing! I would say the best I have ever had. It was 3 courses. The first was an apatizer, a guacamole paste with curry powder and some shredded cucumber on the side. I could have had that alone and I would have been satisfied. The mane course was several peices of tender lione about the size of your thumb in mashed potatoes with spices. I died and went to heaven... Desert was ssssssssssssssssssooooooooooooooo good. It was all home made. It was a rasberry velvet cake with hand whipped icing and a blackberry on top. I would have eaten all night if my dad didn't stop me. I was begging all night to go back.
Two nights passed and we moved on to our next destination. It is now wednesday. There was this beautiful retreat back lodge called 'Rara Avis'. It was the necest back-country llodge I have ever went to and the meals were also amazing - nothing compared to what we had at Pura Vida but still good. Even though the lodge was amazing and the food was spectacular NEVER IN ONE MILLION YEARS GO THERE!!! Why you ask? The road getting there. It was the worst road I have ever been on. It was hell. It was a 4 HOUR TRACTOR RIDE! You could not go in your own car because it was too bumpy and you could walk it but that would be tireing - horses, forget about it. I couldn't even listen to music. The bumps on the road would knock the buds out of my ears. I will never return there. I did get a lot of writing done though. Writing my story that is. I will explain but that is for a different post. While we stayed there we did a series of hikes. They were great but each one made me want to lay down in bed and never get up. They made me so tired. One of the highlights was the waterfall. The water was near glacial temperatures but I stil swam. It was exhilerating. Another thing I noticed was our tour guide, Berny, and the housekeeper, Kathrine, are too perfect for eachother - they just don't know it yet. The hikes and the waterfall visits took up another two days so here we are on Firday, going to Cartago to see NEW MOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The movie was in English and even though they had Spanish subtitles it was still AWESOME! \i cried, in the movie theater when Edward left Bella. *Sniffle Sniffle*. I still LOVED the movie with all my heart though. After the movie we went to have dinner beside our newest BnB. My Quesedia sucked so I ate most of my friends' dinners. I met 3 of my friends for the showing of New Moon, Brittany, Ali and Lily. It was Brittanys bday a week ago, Nov. 20th, the real release date of New Moon but in Costa Rica everything happenes slower. Its sad, really. So we postponed her bday party a week and then headed out for the movie and a fun night. When we got back to the BnB we left to our room. Us 4 girls got our own room. That was awesome. We had a good night after all but we went to bed earily, 10:30pm, because we were tired and there was nothing to do.
So here I am, blogging, at 11:11pm - actually - after watching Wolverine and I am very tired because it is Satuday night and I was in the car for a very long time today, I bid all GOODNIGHT!
Sincerely,
Abby!
P.S. Read the house of Night series
P.S.S. Next Post will be all about my story 'Allure' and a whole whoppig big list of books to read
P.S.S.S. *Yawn* I'm really tired so I am goignt o sleep now! Hehe. ;)

Sincerely,
Abby!

P.S.S.S. *Yawn* I'm really tired so I am goignt o sleep now! Hehe. ;)
Miami!
Oh. My. God! I had the best time ever last weekend! I went to Miami for 3 days. We didn't just decide to suddenly decide to take a random trip, we get evicted from the country every 3 months. It is because we aren't official citezens. I know, it is pretty stupid but I am really gald that they have that rule.
We stayed with one one my dads old clients, Alan, he is 61 but he is still pretty cool. He has a wife named Diane and a daughter named Alyson. She is 17. We got along pretty decently but she has her own life so I didn't see much of her. Alan let us stay with him because my dad really helped him before, he even lent us a car. It was pretty amazing of him.
Anyways, it took a full day of traveling to get there, first we had to drive the two-hour dive to the San Jose airport then we had to take the three-hour flight to Fort Lauterdale. Ugg, then there was all the customs and lines and passports and MORE lines and then you get your bag checked for the millionth time. It is horrible. I fell into bed when we arrived at their house. They live right beside Bob Marleys daughter, it sounds cool but it becomes less and less cool when the music is blasting untill 3 am. You would get pretty tired. Their house is beautiful, its like something you find in a story, they have a nice cobble stone drive way that cuves around a couple of trees. It is a one story bungalllow but I would definatly live there. There place is full of spinny chairs, I feel dizzy when I try and read in them! (Note the "try part")
I love driving through Miami! The houses they are sooooooooooooooooooooo big and they are what the Queen of England would live in. I don't know how my dad drove through the place, I definatly would have crashed, for I would be too busy gawking at the houses to pay attention to the road. You will never guess what happened. I went to BARNES AND NOBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BARNES. AND. NOBLE. It is only the best bookstore on the face of this planet! When I saw the building I was thinking to myself "Ok, so you got to see the building but it would be just your luck if it was closed or locked" but somehow, magically, it wasn't.( I know it is pretty stupid to obsess about a bookstore but I just can't help it!) I spent such a long time there and bought 23 BOOKS! I will be busy for a while. One of the books I got was Tempted by P.C. and kristin cast I was soooooo happy. The house of night series has captivated me and this was the BEST book of the whole series. You have to promise me you will read that series. IT IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought your recommendations and I feel very confident in them! They all look amazing. When I was on my way back to the house feeling on top of the world, guess what song came on the radio? "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus it was pretty comical. I swear, I almost had hysterics I laughed so hard. I had a great day.
The rest of weekend pretty much sucked. We did a bunch of "shopping". I put shopping in brakets because I hated it, we shopped for supplies, not clothes and books. I didn't have much time to read either, I wish I could have holled up in box and just READ for the rest of the weekend.
That was pretty much it for the trip, unless you count the TERRIBLE day of traveling back, I have to be honest about this, flying scares the hell out of me. I don't know why, it has always been that way.
I am supposed to be doing homework right now so I should get back to that. It was lovely writing to you again!
Sincerely,
ABBY!!!!!!!!
